Professor Titular d’Universitat de Geografia. Compta amb dos quinquennis docents i tres sexennis d’investigació. És funcionari en excedència de la Universitat de les Illes Balears com a Titulat Superior i del Consell Superior d’Investigacions Científiques com a Titulat Superior Especialitzat. És director del Servei de Sistemes d’Informació Geogràfica i Teledetecció de la Universitat de les Illes Balears des de la seva creació l’any 2002 (http://ssigt.uib.es). És Secretari del Departament de Geografia de la Universitat de les Illes Balears (2020-), codirector de la Càtedra de la Insularitat (2023-), sotsdirector de l’Observatori de la Mobilitat de la Universitat de les Illes Balears, President del Grup de Tecnologies de la Informació Geogràfica de l’Associació Espanyola de Geografia. Actualment forma part del Grup de Recerca RiscBal (http://riscbal.uib.es) i del Grup Smart-Destinations.

La seva trajectòria investigadora se centra en l’ús i desenvolupament de les tecnologies de la informació geogràfica per a la comprensió i resolució de problemes ambientals i territorials en diversos àmbits temàtics: riscos naturals, mobilitat, salut, paisatge, medi ambient, etc.
