Currículum

Currículum breu

My past and present research trajectory has been focused on theoretical and applied aspects of animal ecology, demography and population dynamics with special emphasis on conservation biology. I have led a long term research program on seabirds since 2003. I have broad knowledge on advanced individual-based modelling techniques (e.g., multi-event capture-recapture models) and Population Viability Analysis. Part of my research focuses on methodological advances in the field of animal demography and population dynamics, which I combine with studies on basic ecology (e.g., evolutionary trade-offs, individual strategies), animal behavior, and conservation biology (e.g., population viability of endangered species, evidence-based management and demography of invasive species).I have a MSc Degree in Environmental Sciences (2003). I obtained several research grants at the Miguel Hernández University (2003-2004). In 2005 I personally obtained an FPU PhD grant at IMEDEA CSIC-UIB and I finished my thesis in 2009. In 2010 I started a Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship at CEFE-CNRS Montpellier (France). Then I was based at the Doñana Biological Station EBD-CSIC and IMEDEA-CSIC, holding a personally obtained Juan de la Cierva (2012-2015) and Vicenç Mut fellowships (2017-2019). I'm now based at the University of Balearic Island with a Ramón y Cajal contract.

I have published 48 SCI articles with an average SCI impact factor of 3.84 (81% Q1), of which I am first author in 22, second in 7, and last author in 8. I have also published 5 non-SCI articles, 3 book chapters, 5 publications in Conferences Proceedings and 30 technical reports. I have participated in 15 research projects funded in competitive calls by public bodies (of which 3 as PI) and in 13 research contracts with administrations or private bodies (4 as PI). I have participated in 5 national and international scientific advisory committees. I organized a congress and gave talks at presented 40 oral contributions at international and national scientific meetings (2 plenary talks and 6 talks invited at international meetings), presented 11 posters and attended 13 workshops. I have taught capture-recapture methods in 8 workshops. I have stayed a total of 28.5 months at foreign research centers. I have supervised 1 doctoral thesis, 4 MSc students and collaborated in the supervision of 3 additional PhD thesis. I have reviewed 60 SCI papers for 29 journals.
